Possible reasons: 1) RAM is mislabeled. Could be 32MB, or single bank 64MB. 2) Your Max's RAM slot is faulty. Unlikely, especially if you tried each of the Micron modules in each of your Dual Bank RAM slots. I vote for reason number 1).
