I suppose my introduction did leave a bit to be desired. My name is Clendon, 
and for those of you who don't know that is a guys name. I also happen to be a 
guy, so that fits together neatly. I hope that the advice of this group would 
not differ based on my gender however. ;-)

The rest of my description, while vague, was accurate. I had only tried to turn 
the StarMax on. I want to thank everyone who assumed, correctly, that this 
meant I had plugged it in and pressed the button that the StarMax manual 
assures me is the power button. The StarMax's response to this was sit there 
and do nothing. The power supply fan did not spin, no lights, no sounds.

As I said in my original post, *any* advice is appreciated, including advice 
that I should give more details.

I also want to thank all those who gave advice about the PRAM battery. I intend 
to try removing the battery entirely when I get home. I will eventualy replace 
it.
