Hi Clendon.
I just had a similar situation on my 5500. Push the start button on 
the keyboard and nothing.
After a few minutes of thoughtful musing, I checked the connection to 
the keyboard by the cable from the CPU. Moving the keyboard in normal 
use had pulled that connection loose by a few thousands, and there 
was no current flowing there.
May not be your problem, but check both ends of the keyboard cable 
for firm complete connection.
