I have had my 5500/200 for going on 8 years now. I have always had it
set up so that I could turn it ON and Off from the keyboard. This means
the 110 volt plug is always hot -- the battery is being trickle
charged. If not, it would have died a long time ago. Altho it crashes
on me regularly, I have never had to do anything but push the reset
button to get it back on. I have three hard drives hooked into it with
about 50 jillion programs. It has probably got at least five sets of
start-up info stored in it here and there. I would crash too if
overloaded like that. Bottom line, STARMAXES, at least 5500s trickle
charge their batteries and if treated properly and no infant mortatitly,
the battery will last far beyond the expected useful life to the
machine. Motorola builds good shit (or at least used to).

Respectfully, Don Vollmer
