Perhaps that's why you can still sell them after a few years, and my compliments on checking them before shipping. Still, someone had them before you, and their clock, the batteries', not the someone, is still ticking.
I made a temporary battery out of 3 AA's in a 4 battery holder with a little rewiring and solder. I put it in a baggie so it woudn't leak in the computer if it decided it needed diapers. The battery is really only there for the PRAM in the odd moments when the Max is unplugged. I think they should put in a battery slot like the slots they have on coke machines and pay phones.
