Recently, I sent a note to the list that had two errors in it. I would
like to correct them.
1.) I sloppily used "RESET" when I should have used "RESTART". I
apologize to anyone who thought I meant the "CUDA" switch. I don't even
know where the Cuda switch is. (I have worried about being able to
find it when I do need to replace the battery.)
2.) I made the assumption that since the battery in my Starmax, has
lasted far longer than would be expected, it was being trickle charged.
Without access to the actual circuit drawings (or taking it apart and
making measurements), I clearly can not make such a statement
unequivocally. My personal experience led me to a conclusion that is,
perhaps reasonable, but not easily provable by me.

I do know that 8 years is well beyond the mfg. stated lifetime of a
chemical battery. I also know (based on years of personal
experimentation) that trickle charging a chemical battery will/can
extend its voltage level and ability to provide a small current draw
dramatically. It will certainly not do anything for batteries used in
heavy current draws (flashlights), but can be dramatic in "keep-alive"
circuits. I also seem to remember the scientist/mathemetican who proved
that bumble-bees could not possibly fly. At the time, I believe he was
working for one of the aero-space companies.

As an aside, has anyone ever wondered how a charged particle can react
with another charged particle thru a vacuum and do work on the second
particle without anything to carry the energy to the second particle?

Respectfully, Don Vollmer
