I love my SM 2000MT with Newer G3, full RAM & Rage Orien graphics card. I
added CDRW, DVD, A USB card and will soon be hooking up to DSL. An amazing
machine but...nearing the end of its days. My wife has a Powerbook G4Ti and
OSX seems like a good way to go. I am thinking of retiring the SM to her
classroon (3nd grade) where I maintain our previous contributions of an LC
III and 7100 w/G3. I tend to keep my computers going a long, long time. But
what to get to replace a SM? I like the iMac but it doesn't have
expandability. Other Apple towers are really expensive. I don't mind a used
or refurb unit (mySM was a refurb, so was my Powerbook 180) but I would
like 1) A G4, 2) good graphics potential (cards will eventually get
cheap)3) run OSX and 4)some expandability. I currently have a USB, SCSI,
video & ethernet PCI cards, I expect I would only use the SCSI one. If I
could run OSX on the SM I would keep it going a while and even longer if
anyone made a G4 upgrade.

Or I could wait a bit yet, I hear there is a possible IBM chip to replace
the G4, that would allow me a real generational changeof technology. Any
suggestions for a SM replacement preferably under $1K? Just wait, something
better & cheaper will come out? Just keep the SM going and forget about new
stuff?
