Check out something such as a recently discontinued G4 Power Mac, something in the dual 733-867 Mhz range. Most likely not under $1K but: > I tend to keep my computers going a long, long time. So, another $500 spent today instead of $500 spent in upgrades on say, a dual 500Mhz or slower G4 is probably money better spent, given the newer architecture of the later machines. Since the Sawtooth was the first Mac with a AGP and you like to upgrade, this would be initially a low-cost way to go. If you like to play and keep costs down this could make you happier yet. But it will never be as good as a mirrored-door model, no matter the CPU upgrade. I also wouldn't fret too much that the iMac isn't expandable. It already has the ports you'll need for many years to come, and by the time it feels sluggish they'll be something more worthwhile available anyway. -David -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
