Hi, I had this problem after upgrading from 8.1 to 9.1. It's been a long time but IIRC the problem was traced to a cdrom driver. There may have been another conflict also. I think the problem driver was the one that came with iTunes. Anyway, I don't have the problem now and I have all the Apple cd drivers disabled and the one from iTunes is not even installed. I am using the driver from Charis Describe and everything I use is working and I don't get the annoyance. Hope this helps.
