Yes, but do not use a crossover cable anymore. I like my Linksys DSL router, which is
what I use for my Ethernet hub (separate from the ISP DSL router). Though, if there
are more than one ports in the DSL router that you got from Earthlink, you should be
able to plug each machine in there. The Earthlink DSL router should be enough of a
firewall if set up correctly, so nothing else is necessary.

Nothing need be done. Just turn on the router as you fire up any machine. You can
leave them all connected when they are off.

Wireless connections seem to be the sexy way to go these days. Personally, I wouldn't
introduce the potential headaches & extra power draw into my network. Someone else
will have to field this question.

I don't know about USB wireless.
