Norman-- I recently tried (and returned) a Samsung 171v, 17" LCD on my SM3000/180, OS 9.1, JoeCard G3. I loved the small footprint and profile over the big box of a 17" CRT monitor, but the color was flat and lifeless, as was the contrast (350:1). But worse was there was no one position that I could place my eyes that yielded the same color & contrast from top to bottom. I tested this by dragging a small picture in Photoshop around the screen and the color/contrast varied dramatically. No amount of playing with the monitor controls could eliminate this problem so I returned it. So I've learned to live with the small screen size of my ViewSonic 15" that has great color and contrast. As a former and now retired DTP publisher, I would not advise using a LCD monitor if accurate color is important to you... _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Ed Stewart, Colorado Rocky Mountains <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Snow Storm 0f '03 at: <http://www.skymtn.com/> Updated: 3/19/03 -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
