Thank you for your quick response.  What David said about the A7720U was
what I expected.  I am not sure from the specs on the PCI card whether
PCI 2.1 is required or not.  The specs do, however, say that the card
has 2 independent channels.  It seems to me that if one were judicious
in the way he configured things the faster drive(s) could be connected
to one channel and the slower ones to the other.  I have been fairly
well pleased with the performance of my IDE zip drive.  The only
complaint I have is that I have been unable to boot from it.  The
starmax will simply not find the system file on it at startup.  I have
found some info on making a startup zip but none of it seems to help.  I
think the last time I tried I finally just gave up.  I will include a
link to the PCI adapter I was looking at.
