My memory is that the StarMax install disk was not the
same as the Mac install disk because it contained some
programs unique to the Starmax. I upgraded my SM to
7.6 and then 7.6.1 using free upgrades from Apple.
However, I think that one SM program having to do with
the CD player had to be added back to the hard drive
after the final update was done.
I have fortunately never had to reinstall software on
my SM. However, I did have to reinstall it on a
friend's machine when their hard drive died (under
warranty). Since I had made a complete CD backup of
their hard drive (and mine) previously, as a
precaution, I was able to receate the lost hard drive
in a matter of minutes.
(Is it possible to still obtain the original SM
install disk and the updaters)?
