I'm trying to install the freebie 7.5.3 from Apple's website on my Starmax 4000/200. I'm ultimately trying to install Linux on this box, but, like all OldWorld Macs, the boot loader requires a working piece of system software. Unfortunately, I don't have the hard drive space to spare for OS 9.1, so I'm trying this older OS. When I boot from my external SCSI drive with 9.1 and format the internal hard drive with the old HFS, all is fine. However, I get an error message when I launch the 7.5.3 installer. It says that the installer script doesn't recognize this Macintosh. Any ideas on getting the OS to install or should I find another OS?
Anthony
Life is too short to use a half-baked OS like Windows.
