Hi all,

Since Feb this year, sourceforge no longer gather website statistics.
I propose use google webmaster tools and/or google anlytics for this
purpose.

Google Webmaster Tools is the more useful of the two from my
perspective, and is the least invasive. Google require a single small
file with a partly randomized name to be uploaded to the site as proof
of ownership. After this, a Google account may be used to look at
statistics which are gathered. To my mind, the most interesting are
how many searches for various search terms led to the site in the
results, and the click through rate. Other interesting information
includes rankings of which sites link to your site and so on.

Google Analytics is more invasive, but provides some additional
information. It is necessary to add some javascript to each page
which is to be monitored. Once this is done, pageview counts, time
spent on page, site exit points and other information is available.

Does anyone object to me adding either of these, or have other
thoughts on the matter?

Matthew
