PARTIAL SOLUTION
I have at last successfully received and downloaded a (just) legible fax in
Pace 56 Solo 'Independent mode', for which many thanks to those of you who
have helped.
I did these things to get it to work. I don't know which of them were
necessary but, together, they did the trick:
1. Settings : Max 9600 baud, selected.
2. Settings : Use Class 1, selected.
3. Settings : Silence Compression, DE-selected [what is this actually _for_?]
4. Independent mode settings : Energy Saving, DE-selected.
5. Amiga system: 'Executive' settings: ST-Fax set to 'NOT SCHEDULED'.
. . ...PHEW!
I'll try de-selecting 1. and 2., cos I don't think that they were it.
Oliver, the quality is still very much poorer than a basic and cheap normal
fax machine. Interference. Can you help me to get this right, through your
seemingly considerable influence with Simone and Pace? I'd really appreciate
seeing it improve to a decent quality as well as just being legible!
Kind regards,
