Sounds like it doesn't like your IDE controller.Maybe if you turn off
the power before attempting install you'll be more lucky.I've seen it
laptops so it may help.Also you could try and in BIOS set PNP OS to NO.
This will make the BIOS to initialize the cards and may help.If worst
come
to worst remove all unnecessary cards .
