Hello,
I'm new to Storm Linux (and relatively new to Linux itself, although I
have a great deal of expericence with mainline Unix variants). I've
installed the Rain release on a machine that has a Linksys adapter on
it. The installation apparently went OK - it "recognized" the adapter
as a DEC chip (can't remember the chip name). However, I can't access
the network from this computer.
I have verified that the connection itself works - by plugging the
same cable into another machine. The network configuration appears to
be OK. I can ping the local host address (not 127.0.0.1, but the
198.x.x.x address). However, pings to the broadcast address only get
returns from the local host.
Linksys is not on the hardware compatibility list. Would I be able to
get support from a driver from a source other than Storm? Does/Should
one of the current drivers supported by Storm also work with the
Linksys card?
With regard to "Debian", does this refer to the kernel code base, a
set of APIs, or what? Is Debian a possible source of an ethernet
driver that would work?
Thanks,
- Larry
