I installed a Geforce 256 (not a Geforce2) and I proceed in the same way
as you
except that I used kernel-source-storm (not ide) and didn't have any
problem with
headers.
I want to add a remark: nvidia install add a line in /etc/module.conf
such that
the nvidia module will be loaded at next starts. But if you upgrade your
system
or if you install some package, apt will run update-modules which
rebuilds the
/etc/modules.conf file: as a result, the line concerning the nvidia
module will
be deleted and you will got a black screen.
update-modules uses the file in /etc/modutils directory to rebuild
/etc/modules.conf file. So if you haven't done it yet; I suggest you to
add a
file named Nvidia in /etc/modutils directory containing this two lines:
# Aliases to tell insmod/modprobe NVdriver module to load
alias char-major-195 NVdriver
