I also installed Storm last night and made a critical error when configuring the network settings for my rogers @home account. Somehow my computer name (which should be cr3453....) is showing up as 6666. Now I happen to be using Windowmaker as my window manager, and I had some trouble getting SAS to work. Is there another way (other than using SAS) to correct my network settings so that my cable modem works? can I update a conf file of some sort?

I just recently (yesterday) installed Stormix (I.S.O. image frome Stormx
site).
Everything is fine and dandy (even sound works!!!), except for my cable.
I went to SAS, set network. Host domain is at cr1234567-a (computer name),
system is supposed to get all the relevent addresses.
It does not.
I tried to set everything manualy, did not work.
I have two network cards - sharing my internet connection under Windows ME.
By the way, I tried earlier release of Storm, gave up, no sound, no
networking.
As you can tell, I am a complete newbie as far as Linux goes.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ivan Spacek.

Your id is cr976842a ([24.43.37.40]), these id's depend on the MAC address of the network card?

You may have the wrong network card connected to the cable network???

There are two ways to connect to Rogers or Shaw. First, you are right you need the computer name as you did. Now decide whether to connect by DHCP or using the settings you get off of WINIPCFG.exe in the run on Windows ME. The simplest would be to set it up statically with these settings. Your IP shouldn't change as @Home relates your IP to the MAC address of your network card. Make sure you have the correct card ( the one to the Cable network) configured with these address settings. Once you get the static connection working you can play with DHCP to get it working. I have used Rogers and Shaw @Home for a number of years with little problems. Here are a couple of URL's which may help.

ps - A lot of people are buying the Linksys routers for cable modems and adsl modems, I have installed a few and they work fine.
