Hi:
I have a @home account and my has nothing to do with my mac address.
I have used a Linksys cable/dsl router and a Linux box with two Nic's.

The ip server on @home is not a DHCP server it is a Win server and goes
by the Windows name for your machine (etc. cc353xxxx).

I set mine up static.

You can get your ip info at http://home.excite.com members services
network.
