Yep, I'd expect that. Remember you're running as root and telling an X app
to display on your screen which is owned by another user, yourself.

I had this problem with the SAT tools for a long time and Stormpkg as well.
They were fixed finally and work properly now.

What can do is an xhost +localhost so that local X sessions can be displayed
on your screen. There may be other ways, but I've come up blank too.
