Very good idea, Bob....
Chris Coleman stopped by the other day and we were discussing the priorities a city must have, or apparently ignore when considering things like a stadium. I would love to have a Wrigley Field in St Paul (grew up there...ahh, Jack Brickhouse.....) But I am absolutely against funding it before taking care of the more vital priorities.
Health care should be the headlining topic, and I wonder how all these cost-cutting vultures are going to back that "philosophy" when it comes back to bite all of us in the ass.

I wonder what sort of small business explosion would result if the city used $90 Million

I am somewhat serious about this idea, as I think health insurance is the toughest problem
to overcome for a small business startup.
Some reasonable limits could be applied, such as - Employees must earn between $9.00 and $25 an hour An existing business can get the benefit if they expand. The benefit could phase out over a ten year period.

With a record like this, I wonder what kind of retail renaissance we won't get for a $90 million subsidy to Jerry Trooien at the Bridges. Riverplace and St. Anthony Main may pale in comparsion.
Hey for $90 Million in subsidies I could open up all most all the shops that have closed since the city started messing with Downtown. You could even get a grocery store for that kind of money.
