Hi Evgeny,

As I said, I don't believe in this "REST stack" either, but still, the
requirement is here. Almost all applications today include at least
some AJAX, share data with other webapps, and even sometimes propvide
desktop clients and the like (Adobe Air, WebStart), or mix everything
in pages !
So clearly, you need a way to invoke your webapp from a programmatic,
remote client.

For RPC only, sure you already have many fwks and tools, from the
suckish HTTP-based things to fast and furious middleware like CORBA or
ICE. But you don't have an ORB inside your web browser unfortunately,
and some suckers invented firewalls. So you stick with what you have.

And again, Stripes makes the whole HTTP crap much more pleasant and
convenient to use. Using the FatClientInterceptor approach, it's easy
to open your webapp to other programs, including in-browser
JavaScript/XmlHTTPRequest things.

So the discussion isn't about turning Stripes into a RPC broker. It's
more about "how to allow other programs to benefit of some code I've
written for a human being only". Screen scraping is not an answer of
course... :-P

Cheers

Remi
