#3. Give up waiting, and extend BennUtils to do what you need it to do.
#4. Submit a enhancement code to BeanUtils bugzila, thus benefiting open source.

Also, when doing the conversion, anything which does not parse to an int should become 0 (naturally you won't attempt the conversion an expect anything else).
