Thanks Sam, I believe this is what I needed to know. My concern is that
my load balancing may not be working properly right now so users may not
ever get to the least-used (or in this case not-used) sunray servers.
I'm hoping a 'utrestart' will restore the load balancing. This is why I
have this concern:
flash:~ $ utgstatus
host flags interface flags
172.16.98.0/24
---------- -------------------
flash TN 172.16.98.1 UAM
sparkle TN 172.16.98.2 -AM
glare TN 172.16.98.3 -AM
Flash is the primary server. From either of the two secondary servers,
all flags are 'UAM' except for the primary (flash). I assume that until
I can get these interfaces into an "UP" condition, sessions will not
find their way to the secondary servers.
And for your curiosity, it was actually a shell script which contained a
poorly constructed if/else which caused it to spawn thousands and
thousands of processes. By the time it was realized, the server had
reached a point where you could not issue any commands without receiving
"out of memory" errors.
