Hello all,
You could try forcing the Sun Ray to ignore DDC and always drive
a video timing that you know the monitor can handle. Use
'utresadm' to do that:
% utresadm -a -c <mac-of-sunray> -t default <timing>
where <timing> is the name of one of the timings shown by
'utresdef'.
Then power-cycle the Sun Ray.
/opt/SUNWut/sbin/utresadm -a -c IEEE802.0003BADC2DFA -t default

I even did an utrestart, though I didn't expect this to change
anything, nope. The power touch button is highlighted when I
switch on the Sun Ray, but the screen remains dark.
AFAIK,utrestart -c needs to be run to get effect the utresadm -a/-d
changes .

Any more ideas? I would even dare to get my hands on my soldering
iron if this would lead to anything. I have a bunch of Apple
Cinema displays here that are for the basket if I don't find a
solution for this.
I googled some more and found
http://www.drbott.com/prod/db.lasso?code=0111-DVAD where they tell us
**************************************************************************
DVIator is compatible with all G4 Power Macs with built-in DVI video
cards and with ATI Radeon cards with DVI connectors (see DVI connector
on the right) . If in doubt, the Apple Tech Info Library (TIL) will
help you out.
Other computers or video cards with a DVI connector must provide
support for Apple ADC flat panel displays in their firmware or
drivers. If in doubt please ask the manufacturer of the video card.

Any idea what this support is all about? Obviously the Sun Ray does
not support ADC display. :-( Any idea whether the new Sun Rays going
to be released this week will do?
Thanks!
Regards,
Andreas
