With one particular client, I'm still fighting a similar issue where
sections of the screen randomly get wiped out by large black squares.
Unable to duplicate with my setup at the office. However, we have
isolated the issue to StarOffice/OpenOffice... Especially spreadsheets
that have a lot of different colors in them. Thought it was a network
issue, but have now eliminated that possibility. Oddly enough,
sometimes it will do it when there's no activity on the SunRay. User
can just be sitting there reading the screen, not even touching
mouse/keyboard and all of a sudden part of the screen will get wiped out
by a black box!
Brings up another topic... Any alternatives to StarOffice/OpenOffice?
While I like using OO on Windows, Mac, and Linux, SO/OO have not been so
good to us on Solaris (black boxes/screen refresh issue, Documents
opened in second user session actually pop up on the users first session
screen instead, and continuing problems with the document recovery
mechanism crashing and not letting people cancel the recovery and get
into the application).
