How about using the thin guys kiosk script? Provides a nice gui with a
click button you can use to start the windows connector. Very intuitive
for the end user.

Subject: [SunRay-Users] Windows Connector problem

Hi,

I've a setup with two x4200 servers in a FOG running version SS v4 09/07
running Solaris 10 x86. It handles about 100 Sun rays. The only thing
these clients should connect to is a Windows RDP session. No smart-cards
are available.

The first thing I was eager to try was the new Kiosk mode that fires up
a Windows session and then reconnects every 2 minutes. It work rather
well but we encountered a problem that seems to be a limitation in how
many connections you can fire up against a Windows Terminal server at
the same time. About 50% of the clients got a nice Windows login screen
but the rest instead got an error message from the Sun Ray server saying
something like "Unable to connect". I checked the logs and it seems that
the Windows server was unable to provide a session. After the two minute
reconnect timeout another client got the session while another one broke
etc.

The solution we're using right now is to have the kiosk CDE-"right
click"-Applications menu, to manually fire up the connector. This works
alright however it is not as user friendly as we would like.

One thought is to make a mouse movement/key pressed aware CAM-session
that fires up the Connector when those event are triggered. But I'm not
sure how to detect those from a specific Sun Ray.

I might be shooting in the dark here but maybe some of you have
encountered similar problem and solved it in some way. It would also be
nice to get as slim Sun Ray session as possible to minimize server
pressure because this solution will grow.

I really enjoy reading this list and I think a lot of you guys have
great answers to many problems. Have nice & "thin" 2008.
