I don't think it is either of the hard drives, but I could be wrong. One is the machine's original 4 GB SCSI. It definitely makes spin-up sounds. It just never seems to get all the way up. The other drive is an IDE attached to a Sonnet ATA/100 PCI card. It is a 60 GB Ultra ATA/100 Segate drive. The ATA PCI card and Segate Drive are relatively new. They have been in the machine about a month. They have been flaky, but I suspect some of my problems were self-inflicted. I did put a small SCSI drive (that was in the c600) in the 9600, but I got the same results. There is a system folder on the small SCSI drive, as it is used as a maintenance drive for the 600. I have not put either of the 9600's drives in the c600. One screwed up machine is enough of a problem right now :( However, when I get home, in about three hours, I will probably try everybody's various suggestions.
