, Uh, I should have been more specific, you can't download the 9.1 update from apple and go from 8.6 to 9.1, which the original messenger was suggesting, you must already have 9.0-9.0.4 installed to use that updater. you can go from 7.6 to osx if you have the proper discs and computers and formatting. I started my Mac life at OS 7 and now use Jaguar, but never could manage to ever do it at no cost. Somehow it doesn't sound like the title to an old Jimi Hendrix album anymore, more complicated, maybe an old Yes album, but I digress. Anybody have any idea how much a MacTell G3/280 upgrade processor for a C600/500 is worth?

No the original messenger wasn't suggesting any such thing ;-) ! I was answering a question for a guy who already had OS 9.0 laying around who asked if he should buy 9.1 or higher or buy 8.5/6. I was saying since you already have 9.0 use that and save your money for buying more RAM and use the free upgrades from Apple! Sorry that answer got people thinking you didn't need to already have OS 9.0 or 9.04 on hand. Yes, you have to do each upgrade one at a time when using the free upgrades. 9.1 then 9.2.1 and then 9.2.2 . I also am not so sure most people need nor that they should upgrade to 9.2.2 which requires unsupported by Apple hacks to work. There are issues on my J700 which I haven't bothered to sort out as I no longer use OS 9.x nor classic in OSX. I do boot into OS 9.x once a week or so to archive my email in Eudora that's about it.
