nor that they should upgrade to 9.2.2 which requires unsupported by
Apple hacks to work. There are issues on my J700 which I haven't
bothered to sort out as I no longer use OS 9.x nor classic in OSX. I do
boot into OS 9.x once a week or so to archive my email in Eudora that's
 about it. Will S

Will, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while ... what issues have you had with OS 9.2.2? I finally got around to installing it using OS9 Forever - cleared off my boot partition, did a clean install of OS 9, then 9.1, 9.2.1, and finally 9.2.2. My main reason for going there was to upgrade to Final Cut Pro 3/DVD Studio Pro 1.5.

So far, I'm finding it pretty flaky, particularly with MS stuff (Office, IE,
etc.). I have occasional (verging on somewhat regular) finder crashes when
going up to the application menu to switch apps, and recently have a
scenario where the mouse disappears behind the windows and I can't select
anything in any window or in the Finder menu. I've trashed Finder and System
preferences, but the quirks come back anyway. Some of the behavior is almost
reminiscent of a virus, but I have done a complete scan with Virex several
times and found nothing.

Anyone else using OS 9.2.2 with similar problems (or not)?

There are four or five extension that you need to remove. They are used for classic mode for OS X and will cause the problems that you are having.. Don't remember which ones they are but I'm sure that someone else on the list can chime in with the correct ones to remove.
