Will- really thank you for your answer. The good part is that I may be able to get a copy of X to another drive with CopyCloner. Then if it works I can take the chance with the upgrade. The reason that I have had it so easy with X and its upgrades is that I waited a long time before I did it, using the info from you and everyone else to optimize my set up to prevent whatever was preventable. While some of it is luck, the majority was help from a lot of good hearted people on this list--who have helped me out of some horrible jams with hardware and software upgrades.
