I take it there are more SMT components missing that would support the 32 pin unit ? We cant just remove the 8 pin jobbie and put the 32 pin on ?
I don't know. I haven't tried it, but looking at the card, there are positions for three tiny uninstalled chips and those chips have an awful lot of connectivity to the PLCC32 pads. I'd guess they are some kind of serial to parallel (accumulator?) or parallel to serial chips, but I don't know.
I could make better guesses if I take the time to determine if the (uninstalled) chips are connecting to the address pins or the data pins of the PLCC32 position.
So I was hoping some super-bright person had worked it out.
