Hi Will Finally an opportunity to give you some information instead of the reverse. I've had DSL via Earthlink for over 2 years. After the first 6 months MacPOet went "sour" in the Detroit area. Earthlink was unable to talk me through getting reconnected even with several software reloads. Finally one tech took an "unauthorized" method, had me buy a router(Asante 3004C) which eliminates the need for MacPOet software, and everything has been fine. When I lost my HD I did have to go to a supervisor to get set up again because"Earthlink does not support router instilations on home installs" but under my circumstances they did. I did encounter a mystery of "loss of /difficult modem connection" a few months ago but with their tech help it was traced to newly installed light dimmers in another room of the house! It was tough to find because it was intermittent. Pm;u om the part way on position did the dimmers mess with the DSL signal to the modem. They do not openly support Netscape but have been helpful. One thing, with DSL you do pay phone company taxes for service that I believe you avoid with cable(at least in Michigan) but it is a small amount. I've been happy with Earthlink for both DSL and 56k service, as I do depend on tech help. Oh yes, Asante has a great FAQ site for router problems FYI The router also serves as a FIREWALL.. Paul C

Anyone using Speakeasy or Earthlink DSL broadband? I've been told I can now get 1.5 mb DSL ( or slower for a lesser price) from either of the above companies. They are offering free install and modem etc and low price for 6 months. $19.95 for one and $29.95 for the other monthly. I've had Comcast broadband cable for several years. Service has been pretty good but is expensive by my standards. Lately service issues with some features which they refuse to say when they will be fixed. Also if you read the fine print of the contract it's fairly outrageous big brother stuff. Thanks for any info on the two above DSL services. Will S
