Will,
We have been using Earthlink's DSL service at home for about 15 months now. It has been very reliable. We were Earthlink dial-up customers, and made the switch when they were doing one of the six month low priced promotions.
They were pretty upfront with us about using a router. They did not care if we used a router, or hooked up multiple machines. However, tech support was for one machine, connected directly to their modem. I "think" we were offered multiple machine tech support, if we paid more.
We have the C600 and a 9600 running OS 9.1, and a G3 Laptop running OSX, and a LaserWriter printer hooked up to our router and the Earthlink modem. One thing I found delightful about Earthlink is they still have lots of old-but-useful information on their web site. They still have the modem string and connection info for Newtons listed. I can connect my Newton 2100 to our DSL account!
I don't remember if you use a laptop or not, but they also include 20 hours of free dial-up with the DSL account. That comes in handy if you do any traveling with a laptop. Some companies offer free unlimited dial-up, others none.
