Hi there S900, Max Powr 300Mhz G3, OS 9.1, Swann macsurfer 56K modem (external)
I've been away for a while, so forgive me if this has come up before in the last month or so. I'm not sure if my S900 is developing a problem, or whether it has got a virus of somesort. It happened quite quickly that when connected to the internet with Microsoft IE, (sorry head in hands looking at the floor) I kept getting disconnected after various lengths of time - 1minute, 20 secs, 15 minutes. I tried Netscape and for a couple of times and it was fine, then...last night the mac went into sleep mode and when I woke it up it beeped, just once, quite short and in a tone it doesn't usually use. It was here that I remembered that I had heard it do this before once or twice, but I was never sure where it had come from. Anyway to summarise, I thought Virus!!!, people said Sasser Worm!!!!, I investigated and symantec say doesn't affect Macintosh! I thought WDEF virus, I used Virex 6.1 nothing found, then.... I heard of beep codes, could it be a hardware problem my S900 is trying to tell me about, I don't know. So here I am pleading for any info, is it a sick mac or one about to hit the dust?
