I'm sure more knowledgible people will give better information shortly, but
when I installed a G3 on my old C600, and a G4 on my S900, I had to use
software to maximize the speed of the cache.  I had an old one on the C600
from PowerJolt, and on my S900 i use Cache Profiler, which I think came from
Powerlogix.  It is a free download.
