SCSI works fine in 10.2 so you could use SCSI or IDE drives. There have been problems with SCSI drives in Panther 10.3.

FWIW, I have 3 SCSI drives in my S900 running 10.3.4 and all work fine. I could not get the SCSI CD-ROM drive to work, however, so I have an IDE CD on a VST Ultra 66 card.
