As mentioned, none of the key parts seem to be original. I have been running an ATI Rage 128 video card, but the card that came with it when I bought the used box was a Radius something or other. Neither will work now. Also, I've confirmed today at a local Mac shop that the 604/180 processor is not the original Supermac OEM, but rather an Apple OEM that must have been switched in by the used Mac vendor I got it from.
I have not been running it with the Apple 604 processor but with a Newer Tech G3 card. I swapped it out for the 604 as I figured the base system would not get going.
As I say, if I could get something through my (VGA) monitor, I could at least start the slow re-install process of all the drivers for the add-ons. But how to bring the picture to life?
The good news is: when I turn it on, I do get the start-up chime and there are the noises of everything engaging, including the HD's. The other thing is that I do have access to my sister's PM 7200 with which I can temporarily install the "new" OWC SCSI HD, to do software installs. The thinking being, if I can install the software while on the 7200, I can then swap it back into the J700 to get it up and running.
What is first step though?
