Actually the drive in the Firewire box is probably IDE, so the original
drive in question would work with a Firewire card and external firewire
case. Be sure to get a case with fan cooling if it is to be plugged in
all the time. Or, read the archive to see which IDE version card (66,
100, 133- and which maker, will do what you need). Paul C

I'll second that. If you have room for the card, it
should work great. I don't think you can boot from it,
but I'm running a 160 gig in a Firewire box and it
works great. It's amazing what you can store on a
drive that size!
