i'm just finishing a long, and damn good, run on my s900. i bought it fall '98 and it was literally the last batch of new 604e processors being sold. i lived with stock processor and OS9 for a year or so before purchasing a newer g4/450 upgrade, which was a night and day difference, even in OS9. i held out on going OS-X for a long time, in fact until last year, but once i purchased a radeon-7000 video card, install was a snap and it ran, and has been running, beautifully every since (now running panther without so much as a hiccup). over the years, i've thrown in an ATA/66 card and 30gb HD, almost a gig of memory, firewire/usb card, and a yamaha CDRW.
she's also traveled a bit, from new york, to prague, back to minneapolis, always with tender loving care. recently though, i acquired a second laptop (ti-book g4-550), and even though it has less video memory, i switched my wife over to it (i'm myself running on a daystar g4-upgraded pismo). now if i were stationary, i would easily keep thee machine and run it as a server of some sort, but we are looking at moving yet again in the spring so i think it's finally time to let her go ;-( simply easier to travel with two laptops. what are peoples thoughts as to selling it off? it almost seems more profitable to part it out, seeing as everything is in great shape, but that's only a guess. also easier to ship the small parts via ebay. i'm in minneapolis if anyone is interested on buying it, or parts of it. i have original boxes for the radeon and sigg cards. i'm also going to put together a list of various other goodies i have for sale, such as 56k modem, router etc. that might match it. anyway, look forward to comments, thanks ;-) christopher > > 165.00 -- for a new cpu.
