John, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but in my opinion, there really isn't a "reliable, consistent, and FAST" G4 upgrade solution for Mac OS X and an Umax S900. I recommend an XLR8 zif carrier card from http://www.xlr8.com coupled with a Powerlogix G3 zif from Other World Computing http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Item.cfm?ID=6849&Item=PLGPFZGX10001M . I currently have a 900 mhz Powerlogix G3 running Panther using a zif carrier card in my S900. It works great. I am aware that this doesn't help if you NEED a G4 solution.
