I have an S900 G4/450 with 800+ megs of ram, an 80 gig ATA hard drive
partitioned into 3 sections with OS 10.2.8 on one partition, 9.1 on one
partition, and 8.6 on the third partition. I have the original 2gig
scsi drive with OS 9.2 on it. I have a 250 gig ATA hard drive that I
use for storage. (mostly video stuff) I also have a TDK firewire DVD
burner.

A couple of days ago it started having a problem. Sometimes when I
start it up from the OS9.1 drive it gives the "happy mac", then the 9.1
splash screen, then the 9.1 startup screen, goes through all the
extensions, gives the desktop picture, then the time, then it tells me
that the "untitled" drive is unreadable and asks whether I want to
initialize or eject. Well, there is nothing in the cd drives and the
DVD burner is off. I certainly don't want to blindly initialize
whatever drive it is imagining a problem with. I tried running Norton 5
on just the drives without any OS10 stuff on them. It didn't help.
Usually if I turn it off and let it set a while, it will start back up
okay, and all drives are usable.

Any ideas?

Mike
