Hi Nancy! Thank you for your suggestions.
The rub is, I want to wipe off only the portion of the partition that I'm
not using. I think all these wipe off the whole drive (right?).
But you've actually made me realize this is probably a pretty stupid
request. If I simply wiped the whole drive and then reinstalled from my
FireWire backup, I'd save the active contents and not the invisible
trashed-and-cached detritus. Genii, am I right about that?
