Hi Jeff, Well this will teach me to post info without spending hours
researching the answers time after time ;-) The info I posted was
correct until fairly recently . So yes you were partly mistaken ;-)
The SIIG ATA 133 PRO Pci Mac card is a new design . I spent a fair
amount of time comparing pictures . Perhaps SIIG is now making their
own Mac card for the first time? Unknown at this time. Until very
recently the SIIG ATA & ATA Raid card were both made by Acard as is
the Sonnet Raid card. So here is the new list subject to change.
SIIG ATA 133 PCI PRO card is a new design, maker & chips unknown
(until recently were made by Acard so used ones will most likely be
Acards)
SIIG ATA 133 Raid card is made by ACARD ( as are all the Raid cards
as of this writing)
Sonnet
Ata 66 & Raid cards are made by Acard
100,133 & Trio are Firmtek designs using Promise chips and firmtek
firmware. Reason to believe Firmtek is the manufacture
Acard makes their own cards and the above cards listed as Acard are
the same cards with different markings and board colors etc. In fact
Apple system profiler shows the Acards as Acards rather then the brand
on the board.
It would be interesting to know what the New SIIG card shows up as in
Apple system profiler as well as the Sonnet promise/firmtek cards.
Only so many hours in the day but still trying to help when I have the
time Will S
As I have recently installed this very card here is how it is
displayed in system profiler running 10.4.3
