Its there all right, in fact I even have it set to true.  It must be
transferred with the profile from 1.1.18. Or might it have been there in
an alpha then removed for a relesae and it carried over for those who
used alhas?

I just checked on one of my test machines w/brand new 2.0 install (never
had any other SM on the machine) and it is there alright:
javascript.allow.mailnews;false


I'm not surprised.  Its there in Firefox 3.5.4 too!!!!!

Obviously its a hold over from earlier versions. Since it could not have any effect in FF, it probably does not in SM either, though it might be worth a test.
