Actually, Java isn't more secure than JavaScript, it's just that Java isn't used that much any more - and that Java runs in its own binary as a plugin and so it's the Java Runtime developers' job to make things secure, while JavaScript runs inside SeaMonkey itself and so it's our job to care.
