I tried the above settings.  The Add-ons Manager and the Data Manager
still opened in new tabs.  Furthermore, setting browser.tabs.autoHide to
"false" caused the tab bar to appear with only a single tab open.

On occasion, I might filter and ignore all newsgroup messages
posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent
because of spam from that source.
