As I understand it, it is a fix to the core component, which is shared
among Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey.

Thunderbird doesn't have Private Browsing mode either, but there is a
Thunderbird 15.0.1 update.

This is what I could find about changes in SM 2.12.1.
